Alexa Transtrum NLC, HMCP, INHC

Alexa is a Neurotherapist and the Chief Operating Officer at Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs. She is a HeartMath® Certified Practitioner, Certified Mentor, and Stress and Well-Being Assessment Provider, as well as a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. With a focus on integrative and neuroscience-based care, she completed advanced training in neurofeedback, qEEG brain mapping, and EEG data analysis under Chris Edwards and Dr. Steven Stockdale.
She has completed advanced coursework in Nutritional and Integrative Interventions for Mental Health, Psychopharmacology, Detoxification, Trauma, and Attachment. She integrates her knowledge of Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation, biofeedback, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to support nervous system regulation across multiple levels of the brain-body system. Dr. Stockdale has called her “one of the most important ‘up and comers’ in our field.”
Alexa specializes in a layered, whole-system model that supports the brain and body together. She works simultaneously with the central nervous system (through neurofeedback and qEEG-guided protocols) and the autonomic nervous system (through HeartMath®, coherence training, and stress-physiology regulation) while integrating nutrition, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and metabolic detoxification support. By preparing the body first—enhancing mitochondrial functioning, balancing the microbiome, and optimizing drainage pathways—she strengthens the system’s capacity to heal before progressing into deeper nervous system or detoxification work.
This sequencing allows her to reduce stress reactivity, improve cognitive and emotional regulation, and effectively clear inflammatory and toxic burdens that may be influencing the brain and overall wellness. Drawing from her experience, she interprets symptom patterns to fine-tune support and minimize detox reactions, adjusting her methods to what each client’s nervous system is able to process. Whether working with anxiety, trauma responses, cognitive fatigue, or chronic stress and inflammation, Alexa brings each of these layers together into a unified, responsive plan personalized to the individual in front of her—moment-to-moment and phase-by-phase.
“The brain and body are always adapting. When we give the system what it needs in the right order, healing becomes not only possible, but predictable.”
Alexa’s passion for mental health started early. Even as a child, she felt a deep sense of connection and empathy for others. Alexa discovered neurofeedback during her studies and recognized the profound link between brain function, stress physiology, and whole-body well-being—leading her to Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs.
“I started as an intern in 2016—cleaning sensors, observing sessions, and assisting with administrative tasks. I was fascinated. By 2017, I was seeing my first client. And I’ve never stopped learning.”
Since then, she has logged over 10,000 clinical hours, helping clients move from dysregulation and overwhelm to clarity, connection, and confidence.
As COO, Alexa oversees operations and strategic growth while ensuring client care always remains personal and high-quality. She continues to grow alongside the business—committed to mastery, innovation, and deep service to others.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys Colorado’s outdoors—hiking, horseback riding, painting, and cooking with loved ones. She uses the same tools she teaches in session, believing:
“A therapist can’t guide someone further than they’re willing to go themselves.”
As Alexa continues to evolve her work, she is expanding her clinical approach into an even deeper connection with nature and experiential therapy. She is actively working toward integrating Equine-Assisted Learning and animal-supported therapeutic practices into her model—recognizing the profound regulation, attunement, and nervous-system safety that horses uniquely provide. By combining neuroscience, somatic regulation, and the intuitive connection between humans and animals, Alexa aims to offer clients transformative opportunities to heal through relationship, presence, and the wisdom of the natural world.
