Alexa is currently a Neurotherapist and the Executive Manager at Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs. She is a HeartMath® Certified Practitioner, HeartMath® Certified Mentor and HeartMath® Certified Stress and Well-Being Assessment Provider. She completed her neurofeedback, qEEG testing, and data analysis training under Chris Edwards and Dr. Steven Stockdale and currently coordinates with Dr. Stockdale in providing our qEEG reports. Alexa has completed advanced trainings in Nutritional and Integrative Interventions for Mental Health, Psychopharmacology, Trauma and Attachment. She received her certification in Alpha-Stim and Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation. Alexa integrated HeartMath skills and technologies with our neurotherapy treatment model. Dr. Steven Stockdale has described her as “one of the most important ‘up and comers’ in our field.

Since she was a child, Alexa has been able to connect and empathize with anyone she encountered. She has been fascinated with psychology and mental health since she first learned about it, in 6th grade. At 15 years old, Alexa met Chris Edwards and through him, learned about neurofeedback. From her very first experiences with neurofeedback, Alexa understood the importance of brain health and the many implications it can have in overall well-being. In her eyes, a new door had opened for healing others.

“I remember, at 15 years old, asking Chris, ‘what do I need to do to come work for you?’. His reply was all I needed to start my journey… ‘take these college courses, read these books, if you’re still interested, let me know’. I immediately started reading and exploring all that I could about neurofeedback. In college, I researched and wrote about neurofeedback in any class I could. Years later, having completed my ‘to-do list’, I was ready to start my career. I contacted Chris, immediately quit my job and awaited his response. I even offered to work for free. Finally, in December of 2016, I began an internship with Chris. This consisted of cleaning offices, washing sensors and EEG caps, and working as Chris’ administrative assistant. I slowly began to sit in with clients and observe how Chris did his work. In Spring of 2017, I saw my first client.”

With 8000+ client hours since then, Alexa has been able to hone her skills in neurofeedback, qEEG testing, cognitive behavioral therapy, mentoring, coaching and lifestyle management. She continued her learning with another form of biofeedback, called coherence training, which looks at the nervous system and heart rate variability. She became a HeartMath® Certified Practitioner after 6 months of online training, in January of 2019. In 2022, she completed the Building Personal Resilience™ and the Stress and Well-Being Assessment coursework and received two additional certifications through HeartMath. She believes that HeartMath provides skills and technologies that allow users to feel empowered and in-control of their lives.

Alongside her work as a neurotherapist, Alexa is the executive manager of our clinic. Thanks to her experience as an intern, she has learned the ‘ins’ and the ‘outs’ of Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs. She has created the employee training manual for our therapists as well as our front office staff. She has also worked alongside Chris to build and create the content of this website. She regularly researches any policies and systems that will help us continue to provide the best care possible to our clients and our staff.

As the business has grown in the last 6 years, Alexa has been able to grow with it, not only professionally but personally. She believes that this growth is largely due to Chris’ encouragement in finding her ‘niche’. From day one, Chris has always discussed his dreams of having a staff where each member brings a unique quality to the business. This has allowed Alexa to dig in deep and find her core interests in healthcare and in business management. She strives for continuous improvement in developing her niche and to bring valuable pieces to the greater whole that is Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs. As a team, we all bring unique skills to the table that allow us to offer a wide variety of professional resources to our clients.

When Alexa is not at work (which is rare), she enjoys being outdoors and hiking throughout the state of Colorado. She loves being creative and spends time painting when she can. When she can’t paint, her fashion becomes her art. She also enjoys cooking with friends and family and connecting over meals. Whatever Alexa is doing, she brings the tools that she explores with her clients, to that task. Alexa firmly believes that she cannot take her clients further than she is willing to go herself and values the increased capacity it provides to connect with her clients through her own work.
