Amber Teschendorf MS, LPC

Amber Teschendorf
Amber Teschendorf is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wichita State University and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. Her professional background includes career counseling, behavioral assessments, and specialized research in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), chronic pain, and opioid medication management. Amber spent much of her early career in educational settings, supporting children, adolescents, and families through emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. During this time, she developed a passion for strengthening family systems and helping parents better understand their children’s needs. Through Parent Management Training (PMT), she has worked extensively with families to improve communication, foster emotional regulation, and create healthier interaction patterns. Her expertise in these areas has led her to present therapeutic and behavioral strategies to both educators and community parents.
Amber utilizes an integrative, client-centered approach that draws from Adlerian Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care. She is an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and has specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her work focuses on helping clients develop practical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the emotional, relational, and neurological factors contributing to their challenges.
As a neurotherapy provider, Amber combines evidence-based psychotherapy with brain-based interventions to support emotional regulation, executive functioning, attention, and nervous system health. She recognizes that meaningful healing often requires addressing both the mind and the body, and she enjoys integrating neuroscience, neurofeedback, and somatic approaches into treatment. By helping clients better understand how their brains and nervous systems function, she empowers them to create lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room.
Amber believes that healing occurs when people feel both understood and equipped. She strives to create a compassionate, collaborative environment where clients can build resilience, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward meaningful growth. Her passion for mental health is rooted in the belief that every person has the capacity to grow and heal when met with the right support, understanding, and resources. Amber is inspired by the work of Viktor Frankl, particularly his insight: “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” This perspective reflects her approach to helping clients discover strength, purpose, and possibility, even in life’s most difficult circumstances.
At Neurotherapy of Colorado Springs, Amber continues to expand her clinical skills through ongoing education in neuroscience, somatic therapies, and integrative mental health approaches. She is committed to providing care that is both evidence-based and deeply individualized, recognizing that each person’s path to healing is unique.
Outside the clinic, Amber enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring the outdoors and local coffee shops, supporting local artists and makers, and continuing to learn about the evolving fields of psychology, neuroscience, and wellness.
Where She’s Headed
As Amber continues to grow as a clinician, she is expanding her integration of neuroscience, somatic therapies, and nervous system regulation into her work. She is passionate about bridging traditional psychotherapy with emerging brain-based approaches to help clients better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physiological health. By combining these disciplines, Amber aims to provide clients with a comprehensive framework for healing, resilience, and long-term well-being.
